Collaborative Conservation: Partnerships in Practice (C2P2) is designed for public agency employees actively involved in community-based partnerships and collaborative conservation.
Instructors and participants share concepts, best practices, and innovative strategies for strengthening community engagement and achieving long-term human and ecological outcomes.
This advanced-level course builds on the foundational skills taught in Managing by Network.
About the Course
Practitioners who are actively involved in community-based conservation partnerships and possess foundational collaboration skills, including graduates of the Managing by Network program.
Members of federal, state, and local agencies, Tribes or Indigenous communities, nonprofits, individuals and other organizations working in partnership on public lands, resource stewardship, and community engagement may be eligible to apply.

C2P2 is a hybrid course, with a week of onsite instruction followed by a series of Capstone webinars.
30 training hours delivered onsite and online includes 28 hours of classroom meetings during 3.5 days onsite, plus 2 hours of live webinars for course participants to share their experience applying partnership strategies with peers and instructors.
Instructional sessions include presentations, discussion, peer learning, interactions and reflective exercises.
Participants will cultivate their professional competencies for partnership and community collaboration by learning from conservation leaders and peer experiences of real-world implementation, and then transferring and applying that knowledge to their partnerships.
Participants are encouraged to share a specific partnership opportunity and/or challenge, seeking insights and feedback from peers and the instructional team.

Selection is competitive as seats are limited in this seminar-sized course.
To apply, applicants share information on their partnership responsibilities and experience, as well as particular challenges, opportunities, and training needs related to collaborative conservation. Supervisor approval may be required for some agencies and applicants.
Applications open several months ahead of course delivery. Application deadlines will be updated for future course offerings.
Fees include course tuition, as well as travel, meals and lodging for the onsite instructional week. Cohosting agencies may provide partial or full tuition for their selected participants. Details on tuition and fees will be updated for future course offerings.
C2P2 alumni include representatives from BLM, BOEM, DOD, EPA, NOAA, NPS, USACE, USDA FS, and USFWS.
