Academy ClassroomAcademy Classroom

Our interactive training invites participants to take an active role in webinar discussions and apply course content to their current responsibilities.

Use of Individual Photos

When you attend a meeting in person, people will naturally see your face. Our virtual classroom is no different. Photos facilitate conversations between students and instructors and help everyone get to know you. We will ask you to send us a photo before the first session of any course so that we can compile a roster of the whole class.

Photos will not be used for any other purpose without your written permission. If you would prefer to opt out of the photo request, please send us an alternate image to use in the classroom.

Attending Webinars

The Academy hosts webinars on Webex and phone conference lines. You do not need to sign up for a free trial to download the app or attend webinars.

Class participants will receive links to Webex sessions via email. These are generally sent the Friday before the session, with a reminder the day before your session meets.

We use an outside conference line in addition to Webex. The call in number and passcode will be included in your email.

New to WebEx? Learn How to Join a Webinar. Joining via mobile? Download Webex Meetings.

Note that each webinar session has a unique Webex link and meeting number. Be sure to select the link for the webinar you plan to attend. If you are using Webex for the first time or at a computer station new to you, installation of the Webex application should take less than 2 minutes.

Troubleshooting WebEx:

  • Did you select the right link? Some sessions are offered at multiple days and times. Choose the link for the day and time you plan to attend.

  • Is Webex asking for an admin password? Your local firewall is blocking access to the software. Contact your IT Help Desk for assistance. In the meantime, you can click on the link to "run a temporary application" to gain access to the webinar.

  • Connecting to Webex via mobile device? Download Webex Meetings. Note the webinar session number and password provided in the email. You will need these to access the webinar.

Still having trouble getting into the classroom?

If your webinar has started, call the conference line and let us know about any technical challenges. We will make every effort to bring you into the classroom. If you continue to have difficulty entering the webinar, presentations are posted as PDFs at the website so you can download and follow along until technical glitches are resolved.

Academy Rules of Engagement

  • Webinars start on the hour.
  • Log in 5-10 minutes early to troubleshoot any technical difficulties.
  • Sign in with your first and last name, followed by your agency (ex: Jane Smith, BLM).
  • Call into the conference line, we do not use Webex for sound.
  • If you need to take a call, hang up and call back in when you are done; do not put our call on hold.
