Valerie has been a wildlife biologist for 25 years, the last 14 years with the USFS and enjoys working on projects at the intersection of science, policy and management.

Past and current work experience includes land management planning, ecological restoration, monitoring, island ecosystems and at-risk species. She is passionate about developing innovative, science based solutions to solve complex land management issues.

Prior to joining the Forest Service, she held various positions with other state and federal agencies that were largely focused on research and management of endangered birds in the Hawaiian Islands and the Southwest.

Born in California and raised in NY, Valerie now calls Flagstaff, AZ home. In her free time she enjoys hiking, birding, travelling, and chasing her two young daughters around.
