Nina Hemphill is the Aquatic Resources Program Lead for the California State Office for the Bureau of Land Management in Sacramento, California.
Nina has been in the federal workforce for more than 20 years, including 7 years with the Department of the Interior. While working for the Bureau of Reclamation in Northern California, Nina learned a lot about cooperation, listening well, and the value of honesty and passion for fish and aquatic ecosystems while collaborating with tribes.
Working for Bureau of Reclamation and the Forest Service, she gained a deeper understanding about the differences in values, finding common ground, and working towards common goals
Prior to her career in public service, Nina was employed at several universities. She earned a PhD in aquatic ecology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
